Welcome!

The SKSS Visual Arts Department believes that the quality of a student’s life is uniquely enriched in essential ways by the development of skills and values learned in the creation of artworks. Visual arts encourage the students to function on multiple intellectual, analytical, thoughtful and expressive levels.

Throughout the 2017 Spring Semester SKSS art students have been investigating aspects of Mental Health, Mental Illness and Mental Wellness.
Beginning with a meaningful experience in art therapy, over 100 SKSS art students participated in activities lead by professional art therapist Wendy Gruneberg.  Student artists then moved to a personal process in artistic research and dialogues surrounding multiple aspects of Mental Health and Mental Wellness.  We are excited to share their personal and thoughtful visual interpretations as social comments on these important themes.
Please join us in a celebration of learning as students share the diverse complexities of mental illness and coping strategies of mental wellness through visual art.
A special thank you to the United Way GenNext Youth program for their support through the Youth Initiative grant.  SKSS Art Department is grateful to work with the Kamloops community!
